Description

300-227 armchair. PRL. Fully revitalized.

When in 1944 Ferdinand Zipster departed from Zamość, leaving the sawmill and bending room, its crew began producing furniture for public institutions (schools, hospitals, the army, The Polish Committee of National Liberation, etc.). A year later, the Wood Industry Factory – ZPD was officially established, and in 1949 the company was nationalized under the name Zamojskie Wood Industry Factories – ZZPD (plants in Zamość and Zwierzyniec) and incorporated into the Central Board of Wood Products. In 1951, the company was renamed the Zamojskie Wood Industry Factories – ZFPD, and one year later the bent furniture factory in Bondyrz joined it. Six years later, the plant in Zwierzyniec became independent, and in 1959 the name was once again changed from ZFPD to ZFM (Zamojskie Furniture Fatories) under the Furniture Industry Union. The company produced bent, box, table and upholstered furniture.

In the 1960s, the number of staff increased to 1,000 and exports developed. In the following decades, the furniture was sent, among others, to France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, the United States and Japan. In the first half of the 90s, when the plant became a state-owned joint stock company, the situation deteriorated – furniture sales fell by half (including exports), and 3 plants separated from the enterprise. In 1997 there was some improvement (including an increase in exports by 300%), but in 1999 after selling most of the shares to private investors, the plant fell into difficulty again. The last president of ZFM ended his career in handcuffs.

The 300-227 armchair was produced in the 1960s at Zamojskie Furniture Factories at the Zamość plant. It was one of the most recognizable upholstered models thanks to the characteristic design with turned legs made of beech wood.

The armchair has been completely disassembled, the wood stripped of old coatings of paint, all parts glued again, secured with environmentally friendly oil produced from natural Chinese oils. Beech wood. New upholstery, replaced foam, belts, interlining. Handsewn. Fabric of very good quality, abrasion resistance of 30,000 rubs. New metal screws.

The legs of the armchair are “dressed” in warm cotton socks.
