A “Type B” rotating medical chair from 1972. Stripes
Produced in the Żywiecka Fabryka Sprzętu Szpitalnego (Żywiec Factory of Hospital Equipment) in Żywiec.

 

The company was established in 1870 as a small chemical industry plant in the village of Zadziele near Żywiec. In 1921, after changing the owner and profile, the plant under the name Steel Furniture Factory “Wschód” started the production of simple metal beds and furniture made of galvanized and varnished steel pipes. After World War II in 1946, the factory was nationalized and began to develop products for healthcare (primarily simple hospital beds). In 1964, the plant under the name Żywiecka Fabryka Szpital Szpitalnego in Żywiec was moved to the Zabłocie district, where it operates to this day. In the 1970s, production was expanded to include dental chairs and operating tables. After the restructuring and privatization of the factory in 1997, the company started production under the name of Żywiecka Fabryka Spetu Szpitalnego Famed S.A., and then in 2012 it was transformed into the company Famed Żywiec Sp. Z o. o.
