In our projects we do not use veneers that are thin, unreliable and, above all, not resistant to damage!
We use only the highest quality veneers,  i.e. wood sheets of 3-5mm thickness. Thanks to this solution and the bonding technology we have developed, our products are equipped with durable and beautiful enclosures.

Description

Akai AS 1080 DB receiver. Classic Vintage. Fully revitalized.

Akai was founded by Masukichi Akai and his son, Saburo Akai in 1929 in Tokyo. The word “Akai” in Japanese means “red”, which of course found a reference in the color of the brand’s logo. In the 1940s, the company produced music and audio equipment. The expanding range of the company included originally reel-to-reel tape recorders, cassette recorder, audio amplifiers, video cassette recorder and speakers, followed by CD, DVD and mp3 players. Some of the products were sold in the United States under the brand of Roberts, A & D in Japan and Tensai and Transonic Strato in Western Europe. At the end of the 1960s, Akai and Tandberg introduced an innovative way of recording sound that allowed recording a wider range of high frequencies. In 1984, a new branch of the company called Akai Professional was created, producing electronic musical instruments. However, in the 90s, the company reduced its range of Hi-Fi equipment. At the end of 2004, Akai Corporation was taken over by Grande Group and Akai Professional by Numark Industries due to bankruptcy.

AS 1080 DB is the top quality Akai receiver from the second half of the 70s, equipped with all the most modern technological solutions available at that time. This model was the first in the history of audio to enable 4-channel Dolby recording and playback delivered by an ordinary tape recorder. The design of the AS 1080 DB aimed at effective performance and precision. It has a solid aluminum front panel of 3mm thickness and easy-to-use, precise controls that enable various settings and adjusting the sound to the listener’s preferences. It’s worth noting that this model is distinguished by an extremely accurate sound reproduction.

The model has been equipped with a new enlarged enclosure made of walnut wood, which brings out its beautiful, 70s style design. The wood finish is Chinese oil produced from natural oils. Potentiometers are in perfect condition. The front panel is made from brushed aluminum. The device has been fully reviewed and serviced, it has new aluminum legs.

New yellow illumination of the front panel.
