German club chair of Gera type. Fully revitalized. VEB Sitzmöbelwerke Waldheim
VEB Sitzmöbelwerke was founded in the GDR in accordance with state guidelines in 1950 in Waldheim (Saxony) from the merger of F.A. Ludwig, A. Walde and Otto & Zimmermann – a company operating since 1883 and carrying out orders for such well-known institutions as the German Opera in Berlin or the Great Congress Hall in Munich. VEB Sitzmöbelwerke was part of the Hllerau Furniture Complex and, in addition to the production of upholstered furniture, was the manufacturer and sole supplier in East Germany of folding chairs for auditoriums, theaters, cinemas and sports facilities. Since among the factory employees there were also prisoners of the Waldheim prison, product prices could be kept low. The Gera club armchair and similar models were also produced in the 1970s as export goods.
The presented armchairs come from a tender organized by the Polish State Railways office.
The chair has a slightly narrowing backrest and a widening seat. The tightened side support plates have been additionally lined with foam. The armchairs have been completely disassembled, the wood was stripped of old paint coatings, glued and secured with environmentally friendly oil produced from natural Chinese oils. Beech wood. New upholstery, replaced foam, belts, interlining. Handsewn. Fabric of very good quality, abrasion resistance of 30,000 rubs. New metal screws.
The legs of the armchairs are ?dressed? in warm Christmas socks.
