Description

Pioneer SX – 636 receiver. Classic Vintage. Fully revitalized.

In 1937 Nozomu Matsumoto created the first magnetoelectric speaker in Japan, and a year later, in Tokyo, he registered the company under the name Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho. In 1961, the company’s name was changed to Pioneer Electronic Corporation. However, the breakthrough came in 1962, when the company entered the Tokyo Stock Exchange and created the world’s first stereo system with speakers in separate housings. Four years later, Pioneer opened branches in the USA and in Europe. In 1978, the company created one of the best-known and most powerful receivers in its history SX-1980. Pioneer can also be proud of great successes in the world of auto-moto, as it introduced in 1975 the world’s first automotive stereo subassembly, then in 1984 a CD player and GPS navigation in 1990. The company also played a major role in the development of DVDs, plasma TVs and technologies Organic LED display (OLED). The company is currently part of Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation.

Receivers with the SX symbol are Pioneer’s flagship products from the 70s. They are characterized by a beautiful, warm and juicy sound and an extremely solid finish. The SX-636 from this series proves the importance of quality over quantity. Despite its average power, this model is characterized by a very high level of performance and refined versatility. It has been equipped with modern solutions used in its era, which have ensured excellent sound quality to this day. The parameters of the FM tuner are impressive: sensitivity 1.9 pV (IHF), capture factor 1.0 dB (IHF), selectivity 60 dB (IHF), signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB and wide separation over 30 dB in the range from 50 to 10,000 Hz . The detailed, high-quality sound reproduction is possible thanks to an extremely precise phono equalizer. The RIAA deviation is within + – 0.5 dB.

The enclosure has been completely revitalized, made of teak wood. The wood finish is Chinese oil produced from natural oils and natural turpentine-based beeswax. Potentiometers in perfect condition. The metal elements of the enclosure have been cleaned and painted using the automotive wet painting technique. The device has been fully revised and serviced, equipped with new aluminium legs.
