Revox A77 MK III reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Fully revitalized.
In our projects we do not use veneers that are thin, unreliable and, above all, not resistant to damage!
We use only the highest quality veneers,  i.e. wood sheets of 3-5mm thickness. Thanks to this solution and the bonding technology we have developed, our products are equipped with durable and beautiful enclosures.

Description

Revox A77 MK III reel-to-reel tape recorder. Fully revitalized.

Studer is a Swiss designer and producer of audio equipment for recording studios. The company was founded in Zurich in 1948 by Willi Studer. Reel-to-reel tape recorders first produced by Studer were called Dynavox. Dynavox 100 was succeeded by the first Revox recorder, the T26 from 1952. The name Revox was adopted as the brand of commercial “reels” in 1951, while professional studio equipment kept the name Studer. In 1990, Willi Studer sold the Studer Revox Group to Motor-Columbus AG. One year later, Motor-Columbus split the company into Studer (Pro), Revox (HiFi) and a production division. The extensive reorganization ended with the sale of the Studer Group to Harman International Inc. in March 1994.

In addition to the highest quality reel-to-reel tape recorders, the Revox brand also encompassed valued cassette tape recorders, CD players, amplifiers and tuners – most often based on Studer’s studio designs.

Revox A77 is an iconic Studer recorder characterized by advanced design and precise production. The clean and very dynamic sound provided by this model is the result of a low distortion factor and a wide frequency response.

Today, Revox A77 is a collector’s item, but also back in the day it was a superstar. In the late 1960s the press said:

“This tape recorder is a masterpiece of electronic and mechanical engineering. The electronic function and engine control system certainly sets a new standard in design and performance, which, combined with really high electronic quality, puts this new series of REVOX recorders in the connoisseur class.” (HI-FI Sound Magazine, February 1968)

In contrast, in 1972 Revox described the model as follows: “The A77 is an open reel-to-reel tape recorder designed to meet the needs of audiophiles and professionals. It is a device with maximum performance, offering everything that gives comfort in using it in the living room and recording on site, most importantly, in an uninterrupted time and with ease of use, as well as with maximum electronic and mechanical performance. ”

The well-known reliability of Revox A77 is the result of a professional design concept that perfectly combines the advantages of a solid belt transportation mechanism with the qualities of an advanced electronic circuit design. The use of a cast motor chassis and head support ensures a high degree of mechanical precision and long-term stability, even with overload. In this way, the mechanical and electrical properties complement each other in the most effective way.

The presented model has been equipped with a new enclosure, designed (on the basis of the old one) according to the style of “golden age of audio”, made of american cherry wood, which creates an exceptionally classic and elegant look.
