Revox B77 MK I reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Classic Vintage. Fully revitalized.
In our projects we do not use veneers that are thin, unreliable and, above all, not resistant to damage!
We use only the highest quality veneers,  i.e. wood sheets of 3-5mm thickness. Thanks to this solution and the bonding technology we have developed, our products are equipped with durable and beautiful enclosures.

Description

Revox B77 MK I reel-to-reel tape recorder. Classic Vintage. Fully revitalized.

Studer is a Swiss designer and producer of audio equipment for recording studios. The company was founded in Zurich in 1948 by Willi Studer. Reel-to-reel tape recorders first produced by Studer were called Dynavox. Dynavox 100 was succeeded by the first Revox recorder, the T26 from 1952. The name Revox was adopted as the brand of commercial “reels” in 1951, while professional studio equipment kept the name Studer. In 1990, Willi Studer sold the Studer Revox Group to Motor-Columbus AG. One year later, Motor-Columbus split the company into Studer (Pro), Revox (HiFi) and a production division. The extensive reorganization ended with the sale of the Studer Group to Harman International Inc. in March 1994.

In addition to the highest quality reel-to-reel tape recorders, the Revox brand also encompassed valued cassette tape recorders, CD players, amplifiers and tuners – most often based on Studer’s studio designs.

The Revox B77 MK I replaced the extremely popular A77 reel-to-reel tape recorder in 1977. The new model outplayed its predecessor in terms of technology, especially in drive and precision of the tape winding. The B77 is a model equipped with heads of the same polishing standard as those found in professional studio players. Thanks to a separate recording and playback function, it is possible to monitor the recording with a delay of a fraction of a second. This means that the user can interrupt the recording at any time if not satisfied with the recorded music. Thanks to modern and reliable solutions, very solid, top-quality construction and professional appearance, the B77 won the hearts of customers and set standards in its class of reel-to-reel tape recorders.

The famous reliability of the Revox B 77 is the result of a professional design concept – an effective combination of the advantages of a solid belt transport mechanism with those of an advanced electronic circuit design. The use of a die-cast motor chassis and cylinder head bracket ensures a high degree of mechanical precision and long-term stability, even under excessive load. In this way, the mechanical and electrical properties complement each other efficiently.

The enclosure has been cleaned of old coatings and painted with technical chalkboard paint. Original-colour paint was used and secured with colourless satin varnish. The texture and structure of the paint perfectly reproduces the original appearance of the recorder.
