In our projects we do not use veneers that are thin, unreliable and, above all, not resistant to damage!

Description

Tandberg Solvsuper 11 receiver. Classic Vintage. Fully revitalised.

Tandbergs Radiofabrikk was founded by Vebjorn Tandberg in Oslo in 1933. The first produced radio model “Tommeliten” could be used only with headphones. It was later followed by “Corona” with a built-in speaker. In 1934 the first radio “Huldra” was launched, and a year later “Solvsuper”. They became the foundation of the company’s success. At the beginning of the 1950s, Tandberg began to produce reel-to-reel tape recorders and introduced a number of prominent ideas in this area. In the 1960s, the company created an improved registration technique that it then licensed to Akai. In 1960, the production of TV sets started. In 1972, Tandberg bought Radionette, a large Norwegian electronics company, and became even more concentrated on the TV market. Until 1976, TVs were the company’s main product, and factories employed 3,500 people. However, in the same year, a severe economic downturn disrupted the company’s operations. In 1978, the company became insolvent. The shareholders’ rebellion caused Vebj0rn Tandberg to lose control of the company and then commit suicide. In December, the company went bankrupt.

Solvsuper 11 is Tandberg’s cult  receiver from the first half of the 70s designed by Terje Ekstrom. The presented model is type 73, i.e. the version after second revamp with characteristic square buttons. In addition, after our revitalization, the scale got a beautiful yellow backlight and a red Stereo light. Tandberg advertised Solvsuper 11 as the most often bought  radio in Norway! The receiver has a very pleasant, soft and warm sound, typical of the era.

The enclosure has been completely revitalized, made of Lauro Preto exotic wood, potentiometers in perfect condition. The new side boards made of American walnut wood create an exceptionally refined and elegant look. The scale, which has been beautifully backlit in yellow, does not require re-tuning. The receiver has been fully reviewed and serviced.

Collector’s model. In perfect condition!
