Technics is a Japanese brand name owned by Panasonic Corporation, one of the biggest manufacturers of consumer electronics in the world.
The brand was introduced in 1965 by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. A compact set of speakers (Technics 1) was manufactured at that time, which reproduced a bass comparable to standard floor systems. In the second half of the 1960s, a series of X0A amplifiers appeared within the brand, and in 1970 the SP-10 was created, which is the world’s first direct-drive turntable that has been broadcasting radio stations. On the other hand, this turntable, one of the SL-1200 series, which was produced for almost 40 years, has won customers? hearts. In the ’80s, Technics still featured great quality amplifiers and speaker systems, as well as the first CD players.
Thanks to very good technical parameters, it is characterized by a clean, almost natural sound, which is also reflected in the simple, classic form of the front panel made of aluminum. The classic dilemma in the amplifier circuits is that the higher operating current (for amplification) produces a correspondingly higher level of noise. To solve this problem, Technics applies mirror-current charging in the first stage of the differential amplifier, equalizer circuit and power amplifier. The result is a higher S / N equalizer ratio and less distortion at the power stage.
The signal to noise ratio of 78 dB is equivalent to the 1/8000 noise component in the music signal. In reality, this means that noise does not interfere with the sound, even during very soft music fragments. This extreme “silence” of the phono equalizer is another result of advanced design of mirror circuits. The impressive distortion factor also applies to low output power of 250 milliwatts. The matched pairs of transistors put in one package and the above mentioned mirror current charging contribute to low distortion.
The case has been completely revitalized, is made of Canadian maple wood, potentiometers are in perfect condition. The metal elements of the case were sandblasted and powder coated, fired at high temperature. The new side boards made of exotic wood sapele make it look elegant. The front panel is made of aluminum. The scale is beautifully highlighted, the device does not require reprogramming. The device has been checked and serviced. Collector?s model in perfect condition.
